CTP is the first poker room in Taipei, and is an experienced operator of poker rooms in Taiwan. Most of the major tournaments take place at CTP’s flagship location, APA (Asia Poker Arena) in Songshan District of Taipei. In addition to this, they have more than 20 branch locations across Taiwan, reaching beyond just the Taipei area. They mainly focus on daily Multi-table tournament poker formats, but do also provide TLT games for players who are interested.
We visited and played several games at different CTP locations during our reviews process. The chairs were not extremely comfortable, though they were not the worst that we experienced, and varied based on location. The cleanliness was average, however, the bathroom had mold and was not cleaned very well. The cards that were being used were also dirty, which did not impress us. Some of the locations offer water and tea for sale, but none of them offered food for members. The customer service workers wear button down shirts as uniforms, though they were often wrinkled or dirty. CTP is not a luxury or high-end playing experience. Instead, they focus their brand towards a more sporty feel, preferring efficiency over a pleasant customer experience. The ambiance in general is about average, but players who are interested in playing large MTT tournaments have little choice beyond Asia Poker Arena (the flagship store in Taipei). Some CTP locations only offer TLT games, but due to the ambiance and general customer service being average at best, players who enjoy TLT games have many better options in the major cities.
